Throughout their adventure, Sonic and his allies find that Eggman has used the Phantom Ruby’s capability to retake control of Little Planet from Sonic CD. They board Eggman’s enormous robotic fortress, the Titanic Monarch, and defeat Eggman and the Hard-Boiled Heavies. The three escape just in time as the Monarch explodes. If all seven Chaos Emeralds are gathered while playing as Sonic, the Heavy King betrays Eggman and takes the ruby, imbuing himself with electricity; Eggman attacks the Heavy to attempt and reclaim it. Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and beats Eggman and the Heavy. Following the conflict, the Phantom Ruby creates a wormhole that engulfs Sonic and the ruby as Little Planet vanishes.
